Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer

 

Location: Foster City, CA 

Duration: 6 months (11/05/2012 to 04/30/2013)

Rate: Open

Roles & Responsibilities:

  •  Tools related engineering work – design, integrate and implement infrastructure tools for monitoring, configuration and performance management.
  •  This role will focus on server automation and configuration management/compliance.
  •  Deep understanding of provisioning, software packaging & deployment, inventory management, configuration management/compliance, patching and remediation are essential to this role.

Required Skills:

  •  Bachelor's degree or higher
  •  8+ years of engineering experience (architecture design, integration, customization & implementation) of commercial off the shelf or open-source infrastructure management tools, such as BladeLogic IBM Netcool, BMC ProactiveNet, CA Wily Introscope, Splunk, Microsoft Systems Center, CFEngine, Nagios
  •  Familiar with data center constructs and in-depth understanding of its infrastructure management challenges and operational considerations
  •  System administrator level knowledge of operating systems, such as Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows
  •  Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages, such as shell, Perl, VB, Powershell or Python, be able to work independently on creating integration of Tools through APIs and Web Services calls
  •  Understanding of virtualization and its specific operational challenges, familiar with virtualization infrastructure stack and respective management technologies
  •  Strong analytic mind and troubleshooting skills to provide Level 3 solution support
  •  Knowledge of databases (Oracle & MS SQL )and web applications (Apache, Tomcat) and middleware components, J2EE, JVM & .NET is a plus
  •  Deep knowledge and real-world experience of ITSM processes, such as incident & problem management, change management, capacity management and release management
  •  Effective communicator to work in global team environment, ready to initiate collaboration and resolve conflicts
  •  Able to prioritize workload in order to meet necessary deadlines
  •  Can make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines

Must Have Skills:

  •  Open systems enterprise tools background, engineering experience (architecture design, integration, customization & implementation) of infrastructure management tools, such as BladeLogic, BMC ProactiveNet, Patrol, CA Wily Introscope, IBM Netcool, Splunk, Microsoft Systems Center, CFEngine, Nagios;
  •  System administrator level knowledge of operating systems, such as Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows, proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages, such as shell, Perl, VB, Powershell or Python;
  •  Strong communication skills – writing/documentation, work with team to coordinate and collaborate

Nice to have Skills:

  •  Open system experience with Windows

Preferred Industry:

  •  Experience in large corporations, service providers or within the telecom hosting industry; Financial services
