Job Title: Sr. Technical Analyst w/ GEAC - GL

Location: Chicago, IL 

Duration: 6+ months

  • Responsible for providing a high level consulting services to client personnel. Advises client on complex issues involving the locally customized GEAC Millenium General Ledger package.
  • Senior Technical Analyst experienced in the GEAC general ledger accounting package system within a somewhat customized environment.
  • Must be able to support full life-cycle for new projects (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation), as well as assist in providing resolution of production problems.


  • Writes specialized/customized programs using COBOL, CICS.
  • Makes coding changes that impact system architecture/functionality.
  • May require alternating on-call production support duties
  • Prepares estimates of resources needed to complete activities and projects.
  • Manage project sub-plans by developing, coordinating and controlling the steps necessary to carry out a project within established time frame, budget, quality and requirements.
  • Investigates client needs, regulations, and technology to provide input into the design of system enhancements.
  • Elicits and clearly defines client needs by assessing and documenting business opportunities, benefits, risks, and success factors of potential business solutions. Prepares and updates written material and explanations to accompany systems, programs, and program changes.
  • Works directly with a client to solve problems or make decisions requiring technical expertise or specialized knowledge.
  • Provides complex and/or specialized programming support to various short and/or long term clients.
  • Coordinates training for client personnel.
  • Evaluates and documents the performance of tested software and the quality testing process to provide feedback to project team and management for current and future reference.
  • Provides client support and testing within the area of expertise (e.g., client/server architecture, deposit solutions).
  • Defines business requirements for interface screen design.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of US financial services industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, tools, and technology used to carry out tasks necessary to prepare business assessment deliverables.
  • Considerable knowledge and use of quality management methods, tools, and technology used to create and support defect-free, application software that meets the needs of the client/business partner.
  • Considerable knowledge of the basic principles, processes, phases and roles relevant to a waterfall methodology.
  • Knowledge of architectural design principles, practices, and theories.
  • Skill in understanding and focusing on the clients’ needs, establishing credibility and building relationships with clients.
  • Skill in analysis, solid decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills and manage conflict.
  • Ability to communicate exceptionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients.
  • Qualified applicants may be required to prepare project plans, estimates, functional design documents, test plans and other project related documentation.
