Job Title: Firewall and Network Security Analyst

Location: Jersey City, NJ

Duration: 6+ months

Rate: Open

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implements and supports multi-vendor Firewall platforms featuring Checkpoint IP series Firewalls and Juniper Netscreen Firewalls
  • Reviews requested network flows for security policy compliance, codes and pushes firewall rules after approval, and troubleshoots with requestors as required
  • Helps to ensure firewall rules and network devices meet local and global security policies
  • Helps to verify and maintain security across multicast-based low-latency, high-frequency trading environments
  • Performs daily maintenance and checks of all Firewalls and related equipment
  • Interfaces with project managers across IT production and IT development to review proposed designs and recommend additional security controls
  • Contributes to documented security configuration baselines and hardening guidelines for firewalls, network devices, and network security appliances
  • Maintains HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS proxy environment featuring Bluecoat SG series appliances
  • Maintains and organizes reporting information and documentation for review by Management and internal/external auditors
  • Conducts system security risk assessments to identify weaknesses and scans for firewall and network vulnerabilities and recommends and prioritizes remediation actions
  • Works closely with IT production and application support teams to track security issues and any potential exceptions through to closure
  • Coordinates with global and local teams on firewall and network threat containment and remediation.
  • Works with cross-functional Computer Security Incident Response Teams
  • Proactively keeps current on industry security issues, especially those related to firewalls and networking.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of networking infrastructure components and protocols
  • Strong design and support experience with Checkpoint FW1/VPN1 gateways running NGX R6x, R7x
  • Strong design and support experience with Juniper Netscreen Firewalls including SSG550, ISG1000 & ISG 2000 series
  • Strong design and support knowledge of Bluecoat SG proxies
  • Strong hands-on experience building and supporting Cisco routers and switches
  • Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing tcpdump, packet analyzers (such as Wireshark), and packet captures/sniffers
  • Working knowledge of Websense Enterprise Manager, M86 Secure Gateway, and other Web filtering applications and technologies
  • Industry knowledge of competitive products and technologies
  • Good understanding of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask in a fast, dynamic environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
