Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

Location: Washington, DC 

Duration: 8+ months 

Rate: Open 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or Engineering with minimum 6 years in Software QA, Testing and Test Management
  • Understanding of software specifications, test, design, architecture and development processes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive team player with a hands-on approach
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Hands on experience with Mercury/ HP automated Testing and Test Mangement Tools (QC, QTP etc.)


Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge on one or more of the following business domain areas is a definite plus: Investment operations, Advisory services, Risk management, Accounting and financial reporting, treasury, HR, Business data management, integration and reporting, document management, portfolio management, data warehousing, information management.
  • Technologies preferred but not required: Investran, Documentum,
  • Database Management Systems: Oracle, Sybase, SQL server, Business Intelligence; COGNOS 8,
  • Operating Systems: MS Windows, AIX.
  • Familiarity with CMMi Level 3 and above processes



  • Assist in the initiative to create and maintain quality standards for the various SDLC processes and artifacts, (coordinated with associated CBT teams)
  • Act as custodian for all quality related artifacts created during the SDLC and enforce quality standards throughout the life of the product
  • Provide guidance on QA processes and artifacts to CBT staff,  and vendors
  • Provide the applicable QA approach, plan and methodology based on project risk
  • Ensure overall quality of project deliverables and processes, including requirements, design, system, regression, integration, performance and acceptance testing, and traceability matrices linking all
  • Provide QA reports of findings, metrics, escalations, and lessons learned to project teams and CBT Head of PMO & QA
  • Continuously improve QA processes and artifacts based on feedback and lessons learned
  • Assist CBT staff in following QA processes and remediating findings and issues
  • Continuously review the QA effort and revise the QA plan as needed based on updated project schedules and development status
  • Communicate the QA results with project teams and other supporting units such as Configuration Management, technical reviewers, PMO, and Independent Verification & Validation
  • Monitor and evaluate all QA outputs and provide the review results to the developer/project manager for timely resolution
  • Consolidate and synthesize QA results, compile supporting evidence and advise on proceeding to the next phase of the SDLC or AST Releases
  • Manage the QA project escalation process and other ad hoc tasks as required by the unit Head
